How to create a paper crane
Definitions
- Flush: When one edge is directly next to or on top of another.
Materials
- 1 11x8.5in sheet of paper.
Directions
Part 1: Create a square sheet of paper.
- Take the top left corner of the paper and fold it so that the corner reaches the right side and is flush with the right side.

- Make the bottom easy to tear off.
- Fold the bottom flap back and forth multiple times.

- Press down hard on the fold at the bottom with a fingernail. Do this 3 times for each side so that it will be easy to tear off. Do not do this for the other fold.
- Carefully tear the flap of paper off from the rest.

Part 2: Create the foundation for the paper crane.
- Fold the Triangle in half from the center of the bottom to the point.
- Undo the previous fold so that you get what you had in the begining.

- Hard part
- Hold half of the paper so that it can't change from its current position.

- Open up the other side and fold it so that from the top the held down part is perpendicular to the opened part.
- Now Do the same for the other side. Hold the open side onto your desk and fold the remaining side like the old side.

- Your foundation should look like a flattened X from the top.

Part 3: Create the head, tail and wings.
- Place the foundation on the table and fold the bottom half of the flaps so that you get a triangle with 2 equal sides on the top. Remember the top should be the closed part.

- Fold the top back and forth

- Open up one side of the foundation so that it is split in half on one side. Start by unfolding what you have done and lifting a flap from the bottom to the top. Do the same for the other side

- Now fold the bottom flaps in half onto themselves.

- Now hold one side at the bottom half and open up the other, but keep the folds you just made intact. Do the same for the other side.

- Now Take the bottom half of one side and fold it up. Do this for both sides. These will be the head and tail.

- Now look at the top of the crane. You should see 4 protrusions. 2 are the wings and 2 are the head and tail You can Identify the head and tail by their smaller size. Fold the body so that the head and tail are both folded in half symetrically. Make sure that the head and tail fold neatly.
- Now that the head and tail are neatly folded you can now fold down the wings as far as the paper will let you.
- To create the head bend one of the smaller protrusions away from the body. Adjust the head and tail however you like. You are done
